Marriott Vacation Club hand over nearly a quarter of a million Euros to court following compensation award win for Welsh couple
Trefor and Shirley from North Wales were long-time timeshare owners, having originally bought a Marriott membership for £20,000 and added to their purchase over the years.
"We had some great holidays," admits Trefor, a retired optronics expert. He and Shirley owned for several decades, but one day Trefor read an article about a high court judgment against Marriott in Spain for writing illegal timeshare contracts. He quickly realised that his own membership could meet the same criteria.
Trefor and Shirley sought advice from European Consumer Claims (ECC), a leading timeshare claims firm based in Henley-on-Thames but with offices in Spain and Florida.
"I received very valuable help from ECC and latterly in Spain, from their law partners M1 Legal," confirms Trefor.
The claim process was not swift thanks to legal resistance from Marriott's lawyers but the timeshare giant could not avoid justice for ever. Two and a half years after ECC and M1 Legal began the case, Trefor received an extremely welcome phone call from ECC.
"I've just heard this week the very good news that Marriott have deposited, with the court, a record sum of nearly a quarter of a million Euros," smiles Trefor in his testimonial video.
Delighted Trefor has plenty of praise for the staff of both European Consumer Claims and M1 Legal: "ECC have proved to be very professional as were the lawyers, particularly Jaime in M1."
Trefor was aggressively targeted by some of the fraudsters who regularly call ECC clients and attempt to poison their relationship with us in the hope of stealing money from those clients. "I did receive a number of calls from scam companies trying to put me off ECC," says the affable Welshman. "But I am very glad of course that I stayed with them (ECC). In particular a young lady who I've never met, called Gisella, at M1 was particularly useful and helpful.
"So at the end of the day I am very very grateful to the efforts of ECC and M1 Legal."
If you have a timeshare membership you no longer want, ECC could be able to at least help you escape the contract. If you fit certain conditions, you may be entitled to significant financial compensation.
