American timeshare operators and questionable exit firms are being put on notice as European Consumer Claims (ECC) partners with leading US timeshare lawyers to pursue redress for consumers affected by resort sales practices and failed exit services.
European Consumer Claims (ECC)
With multiple offices throughout the UK and Europe, specialist staff including experienced timeshare lawyers, and a live claims portfolio worth hundreds of millions of pounds, ECC has become a major force in protecting European timeshare consumer rights.
Since 2016, ECC has helped thousands of timeshare owners both to exit restrictive contracts and to pursue compensation linked to unlawfully operated, high-pressure sales activity.
Year after year, ECC has secured outcomes against some of the best-known names in the European market. For decades, many large operators were accused of ignoring consumer protections designed to prevent illegal contracts and unfair selling. ECC challenged those practices head-on.
Market leaders such as Club La Costa, Azure, Silverpoint, Anfi and Diamond Resorts Europe have faced substantial compensation awards to mis-sold customers, with some closing and others reportedly facing bankruptcy, administration and insolvency. The era of unchecked greed at the consumer’s expense has been brought to an end.
American Consumer Claims (ACC)
ECC has now turned its attention across the Atlantic, joining forces with America’s foremost timeshare lawyers. ECC’s track record, expertise and experience are being brought to the US to take on powerful industry players on behalf of consumers who have lost significant sums due to unfair, high-pressure sales practices.
A new entity, American Consumer Claims (ACC), is being created to handle the anticipated volume of work in the expanding US timeshare market.
“It’s time for us to bring our hard-won experience to bear on bad actors in the USA,” says Andrew Cooper, CEO of ECC.
“In Europe we have around a million timeshare owners; the US figure is ten times that. There are vast numbers of people whose lives have been damaged by high-pressure sales and dishonest practices — not only by timeshare companies, but also by so-called ‘exit firms’.
“American Consumer Claims will be here to help you if you have been wronged by US timeshare operators.”
US exit firms
US exit firms such as Timeshare Termination Team have been shut down over non-compliant operations and pushed into bankruptcy, leaving thousands of timeshare owners out of pocket and still tied to expensive memberships.
ACC will offer three services to the US timeshare market:
- Help to recover money paid to an exit firm that did not deliver.
- Support to relinquish a timeshare through the correct legal route, following all compliance guidelines.
- Where circumstances allow a viable route, help to pursue recovery of money paid for a timeshare.
“Put simply, if someone has been taken advantage of by a timeshare company, or then targeted by an exit firm for even more money, we are here to help,” says Cooper. “In Europe we currently work together with a specialist firm of timeshare lawyers called M1 Legal. M1 Legal has an unimpeachable success rate in challenging and overturning the illicit behaviour of European timeshare giants.”
“This move into the US market involves our most exciting collaboration yet — this time with some of the most respected and accomplished timeshare lawyers in the continental United States.”
